The Edmonton Oilers have struggled this year in many facets of the game, causing them to be on the outside looking in at the playoff picture at the quarter mark of this 2025-26 NHL season.
Even still, there have been a number of players who have performed well up to this point in the year and a few have been turning their season around. Although the Oilers are not out of the weeds yet, it is undeniable to notice some legitimate improvements that the team has made overall.
Their depth scorers seem to be chipping in more and aside from Leon Draisaitl and captain Connor McDavid -- who were always hot -- multiple players are starting to heat up.
Jack Roslovic
The Oilers signed free agent forward Jack Roslovic late, with fans learning of his deal during the intermission of the first game of the season. The 28 year old provides a lot of value, being able to slot into various positions and roles within the lineup.
So far in 21 games, he has scored seven goals and eight assists for 15 points. Recently, he has been much hotter as well being on a five game point streak that ended only a few games ago. Over his past seven games he has seven points (four goals, three assists). If he keeps up his current pace, he will have scored 58 points this year, smashing his previous career high.
Evan Bouchard
Oilers star defenceman Evan Bouchard has solidified his high end skill level this year and is most certainly a candidate to join Team Canada for the 2026 winter Olympics. He has proven that he is one of the NHL's premiere offensive defencemen and is deserving of his top pair usage.
In 23 games with the Oilers this year he has scored three goals, 14 assists for 17 points. This puts him on pace for 60.6 points and although would not represent a career high, he has proven over the past three years that he is a high powered offensive threat from the backend. Placing himself amongst the best in the league.
Matt Savoie
Although Matt Savoie has not produced on the score sheet the past few games and has found himself in the middle of head coach Kris Knoblauch's line juggling, he has shown steady improvements in his rookie year. He scored only one assist through his first seven games, scoring his first goal and second point in his 12th outing of the year, against the New York Rangers.
After his first goal, he went through a five game scoreless drought but now has three points (one goal, two assists) in his past six games. If he can carve out a more consistent role in the lineup, he should be able to find some consistency in his scoring. Either way, his scoring is clearly picking up following the trend of his rookie year.
