Viktor Arvidsson is a talented hockey player who will help make the Edmonton Oilers roster better than last season's squad. Expect him to play on the top two lines, and most likely, also on the special teams.

Arvidsson's shows signs of being a Corey Perry-type of player, which is welcome addition to a team wanting players with these attributes. Evander Kane is another player built the same way, but with him currently sidelined, this boosts the need for Arvidsson. The trio can be an utter nuisance to the opposing teams they face.

Another positive aspect Arvidsson has, is a hockey IQ which is similar to Leon Draisaitl. As with Draisaitl, his strengths include being able to score close around the net and getting under the skin of opposing players.

The benefit for the Oilers of playing Arvidsson on the top two lines

Arvidsson will benefit from playing alongside Zach Hyman, Connor McDavid, and Draisaitl. He is a natural goal-scorer and play-maker, as his game should elevate, making him a regular producer for the team for the next two seasons and perhaps even getting a long-term deal.

As per Hockey Reference, here is a look at Arvidsson's stats for the 2023-24 regular season and his career respectively, along with the same for his playoff performances:

The 31-year-old is a rising star who will be able to produce from the get-go and become a fan favourite, even as he gets used to his new teammates. He was a threat when he played for the Los Angeles Kings team and will excel even more with his new team in Edmonton.

Arvidsson's performances during past postseasons has been impeccable, and his on-ice awareness is just ingenious. Watching him play against the Oilers in the past couple of postseasons has shown he is an aggressive, goal-scoring player, especially in late-game scenarios for his team.

The winger should fit in with Draisaitl quite well and complement the likes of Jeff Skinner and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins game as playmakers. Not to mention that also playing alongside McDavid and Hyman will make this particular line combination a dangerous threat to deal with.

Arvidsson is a good pickup for the Oilers, and he will succeed after having analysts and fans alike compliment his game in previous seasons. All he needed was a stronger team to help him mature as a player, which the Oilers will do. His addition was much needed.
