Viktor Arvidsson Makes Sense For The Edmonton Oilers

After missing the majority of last season the Edmonton Oilers should be able to sign Viktor Arvidsson for a sweetheart deal.

Viktor Arvidsson may have only played 18 games last season but in seasons prior Arvidsson had put up solid numbers while in an important role for the Los Angeles Kings. The Edmonton Oilers are the most recent team to have faced Arvidsson as the Oilers in game five of the first round eliminated the Kings from the playoffs.

While the Edmonton Oilers were the much better team in that series, I enjoyed the style of game the Arvidsson in the playoffs. While he may have only put up three assists in that round, if you look at the rest of the Kings players' stats then you would realize that he was indeed one of their best players in that series. What he could bring to the Edmonton Oilers is something that the Oilers could use more of.

Once Again Salary Is the Issue For The Oilers

If you aren't sick of it yet then get ready to be. For him to sign with the Edmonton Oilers then they are going to need to open up some cap space. While moving on from Jack Campbell opens up some space it might not be enough to bring in the quality of players like Arvidsson. If the Oilers can open up the space for him then I would seriously look at bringing him in to help this team.

With the fact that a majority of the bottom six players are either UFAs or RFAs, there are going to be a lot of spots to fill in the bottom half of the lineup. As we have seen in the playoffs when you are in the playoffs you need high quality depth players. There is no doubt that Viktor Arvidsson being in the bottom 6 would be a spectacular addition to the roster that just days ago was one game away from winning the Stanley Cup.
