A special ability each player has in the top-6 lineup of the Oilers
The top-six lineup is stacked for the Edmonton Oilers. We go through each player's unique talent and how it will be utilized in the coming season.
The Edmonton Oilers have good potential to dominate this coming winter, and the vital aspect is how each player in the top-six lineup will contribute to the team. Each forward has a unique ability critical to the Oilers' contribution, which will give the coaching staff options to use various game combinations and game plans throughout the regular season.
The team is well-equipped with firepower, not to mention the playmaking ability which will be the one of the most entertaining sight during games watched and played in the NHL this season. Being fair, this team as a whole and the players as individuals will have down days and the question will be how they respond to the scenarios they face.
The quality ability each forward brings to the Oilers in the top-six lineup
Connor McDavid
McDavid's ability to score and produce points in games is his unique talent, complemented by his advanced hockey IQ and play-making attributes. He is an incredibly well-versed hockey player and knows how to lead his team. His versatility allows his team to go into the offensive zone with precision and usually score points. Arguably the best player in the world, he is built to play this game at a higher level than pretty much anyone else.
Leon Draisaitl
Arguably the best player from Europe, Draisaitl is a well-versed hockey player himself and knows what spots to get to, to score from and contribute on a nightly basis. He is an elusive player and has the potential of leading a team himself, if the day comes. Draisaitl's talent is his speed and ability to score. He can skate around the offensive zone incredibly well, and knows where to go when the puck is in play in the offensive zone.
Zach Hyman
Hyman is also a versatile hockey player, if only in some of the top six lineups. The importance of his play is based on his sneaky ability to find ways to score goals near the net. He can play anywhere around the crease and contribute, whether goal-wise or assists. His game, similar to Victor Arvidsson's, is stealing the puck and creating turnovers
Jeff Skinner
Skinner's game is based on his veteran experience. He knows where the other forwards are during the forecheck and has a good playmaking ability that complements the likes of Draisaitl and Arvidsson. Skinner measures up as a consistent playmaking, who creates opportunities to score. He can get around the ice well and knows where to play the puck. He has learned much as a seasoned vet and will be the go-to guy, to set plays in the offensive zone.
Victor Arvidsson
Arvidsson is an elusive player, much like Draisaitl; his skating ability complements his play and scoring touch. He knows how to get under the skin of the opposing team players and will find ways to set up scoring for his teammates. Arvidsson's game is a natural hockey player type of game. He is well-versed in getting around the offensive zone, setting up his fellow man, sneaking into the zone, and scoring tricky goals which are difficult to defend against. He was the star signing the team made during this past free agency and will be fun to watch.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Nugent-Hopkins will be the X-factor for the team, because of his long tenure with the team and his veteran experience. He will be vital in setting up players to score in crucial moments, or score himself if the opportunity arises. He will give the team options moving forward and is the leader the team needs to keep up the spirit of the game, if their level of confidence is suffering. Nugent-Hopkins will be the player to assist his teammates and defend at the elite level needed, to pull out games in general.
