After a lopsided win against the Sharks, the Edmonton Oilers move on to take on the Los Angeles Kings tonight at the Staples Center. Both teams came into this season with high hopes. The Oilers of winning the cup and the Kings of making it past the Oilers for once.

The Edmonton Oilers are currently sitting in fifth place in the Pacific Division with 33 points. They have a record of 16-15-1 and are looking to climb their way back into a playoff spot. After a rough start to the season, the Oilers currently sit 6 points out and have 4 games in hand on the Nashville Predators, who hold down the final Wild Card Spot.

The Oilers have a dynamic offense led by superstar Connor McDavid, who is one of the most, if not the most, talented players in the league. McDavid has 12 goals and 33 assists this season after having a slow start, but is still a threat every time he steps on the ice. He will be looking to lead his team to victory tonight and extend his point streak to four games.

The Los Angeles Kings, on the other hand, are currently in third place in the Pacific Division with 44 points. They have played really well so far this season and they have the best winning percetage in the Pacific Division. However, they are 5-4-1 in their last 10 and the Oilers will be hoping to add another loss to their record.

The Kings have a solid defense led by Drew Doughty, who in my opinion is still one of the best defensemen in the league. Doughty has 7 goals and 11 assists this season and is a key player on both ends of the ice. He will be looking to shut down the Oilers' potent offense tonight and help his team secure a win.

This game is sure to be an intense battle between two talented teams. The Oilers look to stay on track and work their way into a playoff spot, while the Kings will be looking to show the Oilers how they have improved this offseason. It should be a thrilling game filled with plenty of action, I expect this game to have a bit of a playoff feel to it, as much as games in late December can have that feeling.
