The Edmonton Oilers are set to welcome back Jack Roslovic to the lineup following his midseason injury.
The 28-year-old forward went down on November 25 after taking a puck to the groin against the Dallas Stars and eventually required surgery. His recovery has now been remarkably quick and his activation immediately strengthens Edmonton’s top-six group particularly alongside Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
Roslovic's impact before injury
Before his injury, Roslovic had turned out to be one of the Oilers most important offensive forwards outside the superstar duo. In 23 games, he scored ten goals and added eight assists.
His chemistry with McDavid and Draisaitl was also evident as he was able to find space in high-danger areas and capitalize on scoring chances. Roslovic’s presence on the ice had notbly provided a dependable secondary scoring option that Edmonton had been lacking earlier in the season and he was increasingly being relied upon in key situations including on the power play and in the final minutes of close games.
Oilers made major roster moves surrounding Jack Roslovic’s return
To activate Roslovic, the Oilers made several roster adjustments. Connor Clattenburg was placed on long-term injured reserve after sustaining a high-stick injury that will keep him sidelined for an extended period.
Meanwhile, Quinn Hutson who impressed during a three-game NHL call-up and scored his first NHL goal against Boston, was sent back to the AHL to continue his development. Roslovic’s return immediately restores proven scoring depth to Edmonton’s lineup and while Hutson is a promising prospect, Roslovic is the reliable game-ready offensive presence that Edmonton needs right now to complement the team’s stars and stabilize some secondary scoring.
Jack Roslovic originally joined Edmonton on a one-year $1.5 million contract at the start of the 2025‑26 season.
Drafted 25th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in 2015, Roslovic has moved through several NHL teams including Winnipeg, Columbus, New York Rangers and Carolina before landing in Edmonton. Over the years, he has been a versatile forward capable of complementing top-line talent and providing offensive depth, a role that has proven critical for a team headed by two generational players.
Outlook for the oilers
Roslovic’s return comes right before the Oilers matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights. With injuries still impacting other parts of the roster, having a forward of Roslovic’s caliber back in the lineup is definitely a big plus.
Getting Roslovic back allows the Oilers to start approaching full strength and provides a boost to secondary scoring and of course a better chance to contend in high-stakes games down the stretch.
