After two hard fought games at home, the Edmonton Oilers will take the visiting side as they face the Anaheim Ducks in their own barn for games three and four.
In game one, the Oilers were able to come away with a comeback win 4-3 after getting offensive contributions from their secondary scorers like Jason Dickinson and Kasperi Kapanen. In game two, the Oilers were unable to comeback and despite attempts like rookie Josh Samanski scoring in his playoff debut, the Oilers failed to comeback and lost the game 6-4.
Now, with the series tied at one apiece, the Oilers go to Anaheim and hope to regain the lead. If the Ducks have shown another thus far, it is that they cannot be taken lightly.
Oilers injury updates
After leaving the bench in game two, many fans were worried about the status of Oilers captain Connor McDavid but he returned and according to head coach Kris Knoblauch, there is no concern. At least for his availability but there is concern with McDavid having failed to register a single point through the first two games of this series.
Knoblauch says he’s not concerned about McDavids availability or effectiveness moving forward based on the time he missed in game 2. Says Henrique is not going on the trip but Dickinson may be available for game three. Said Dickinson was 50-50 in the morning for game 2.

Then, there is the status of the two bottom-six veteran centres in Adam Henrique and Dickinson who both sat out for game two. The loss of Dickinson -- who was acquired at the deadline -- was especially felt after his two goal effort in game one and his position as the Oilers shutdown centre. His status remains undetermined but for Henrique, he did not even join his teammates for the trip down south.
Assuming McDavid remains healthy and is able to find his scoring touch, he has the ability to blow the series wide open for the Oilers. We just do not know when that could happen because despite seeing his playoff heroics before, capturing the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2023 as the Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP, he has not looked as dangerous as everyone knows he can be.
Between the pipes, it is expected that Connor Ingram will get the nod once again, even after a relatively shaky start to the series. Entering game three Ingram has a 4.03 goals against average and a .855 save percentage. Although the man on the other side is not fairing much better with the Ducks starter Lukas Dostal currently having a 4.08 GAA and .887 save percentage.
