In the first game of the Edmonton Oilers 2025-26 National Hockey League season, star forward Leon Draisaitl scored a career milestone 400th NHL goal.

This was a huge accomplishment as the German star continues to pile up achievements throughout what will undoubtedly go down as a career worthy of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

There are a number of other Oilers stars who are at or nearing milestones and are likely to hit them this season according to quanthockey.com. Although not a comprehensive list, below are a number of achievements, milestones, and various Oilers records that players can hit as the season continues.

Connor McDavid

The Oilers captain and star, Connor McDavid looks to add to his already illustrious hockey career this season by helping Team Canada capture gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics in February. This is a big achievement in and of itself.

Here in North America, he will look to add to his impressive NHL resume by hitting the 1,100 point milestone as he currently sits only 14 points off from that mark. Given his proximity to this mark, it also seems quite possible that the player who has amassed over 120 points in three of the past four seasons may also hit the 1,200 point mark.

He is also well within reach of the 400 goal mark, being only 39 off from there and only 75 assists off of the 800 mark. Both of these are very achievable for a player who is such a prolific scorer as McDavid.

Speaking of goals, should he hit the 400 goal mark, he will surpass Mark Messier for fifth all-time in Oilers goals and with the chance of catching Leon Draisaitl and/or Jari Kurri (417).

Leon Draisaitl

Even though he already hit the 400 goal milestone, there are a number of other possible milestones that Draisaitl could hit. First is the 1,000 point milestone, with him currently being only 41 points away from that. He could also hit the 600 assist milestone if he amasses only 42 more apples.

If he is able to post another 100 point season, he will slide into the Oilers third all-time scoring spot, directly be McDavid and Wayne Gretzky at second and first, respectively. He is currently only 84 points behind Jari Kurri who currently sits third.

Speaking of where he ranks amongst Oilers greats, he is 16 goals behind Glenn Anderson for third on the all-time Oilers list and will likely sneak into that spot in short order.

Points and statistics aside, Draisaitl is also only seven games away from having played 800 in his career. The 2025-26 season could be a big one for Draisaitl in the history books.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins

As of right now, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is the longest serving Oilers player on the roster but could find himself in sole possession of the all-time games played leader in franchise history, overtaking Kevin Lowe. He is currently third with 962 games played, behind Ryan Smyth (971) and Lowe (1,037) who sit ahead of him.

He is also only 28 goals from the 300 mark and 21 assists from the 500 mark. On top of this he is 49 points away from the 800th of his career.

Looking ahead to 2026-27, Nugent-Hopkins could start to inch his way into the top five for most statistical categories, which will push him into the conversation amongst some of the most beloved and widely regarded Oilers of all-time.

The 2025-26 season is shaping up to be a great one for the Oilers and their current core. It could be made even better if they are able to finally bring home Lord Stanley next June.
