Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draisaitl scored the 400th goal of his National Hockey League (NHL) career in Wednesday night's home opener.
In the second period facing the Battle of Alberta, provincial rival Calgary Flames, Oilers forward Draisaitl scored his first goal of the season on the powerplay. He potted the goal on a wide open cage off a feed from Oilers rookie, David Tomasek. His goal gave the team a 3-0 lead.

His goal helped the Czech-born forward, Tomasek record the first point of his NHL career.
Draisaitl makes history
His tally marks the 400th goal of his NHL career, making him only the fourth Oilers player to do so with the club.
The reigning Rocket Richard trophy winner reached 52 goals last season, the fourth time he has broken the 50-goal plateau of his career, having recorded 52 in 2022-23, 55 in 2021-22, and 50 in 2018-19.
The German born forward was drafted by the Oilers third overall at the 2014 NHL Draft and is the all-time leading NHL scorer amongst all German players.
He enters the first year of an eight-year, $112 million contract paying him $14 million per season.
