After defeating the Winnipeg Jets yesterday with a shutout the Edmonton Oilers lose to the Seattle Kraken 3-0 Going into this game I thought the Edmonton Oilers were going to lose this game. Unfortunately I was right and they didn’t look good either.

The lineup the Oilers lacked the high end skill this team is know for and it showed tonight. Their was evident and most noticeable on the powerplay. In this game the Edmonton Oilers could not get much going while a man up. To make things worse they gave up a short handed goal.

If this was a regular season game the Edmonton Oilers and one of the NHL’s top powerplay’s would have scored a couple goals with the amount of chances they had tonight.

Good Things For The Edmonton Oilers

  • Although the Oilers didn’t score a powerplay goal, they also didn’t give up a powerplay goal against.
  • They Oilers did get more shots…so that’s good.
  • Janmark showed some good glimpses of speed. Looks like he could be useful on the penalty kill.
  • It is only a preseason game so the loss really doesn’t mean anything.

Being a fan of the Edmonton Oilers it was pretty hard to watch this game. The Oilers didn’t really have any good chances. There was the disallowed goal and a Benson breakaway, but aside from that it was quite a painful game to watch.

The Oilers couldn’t get anything going, between their powerplay struggles and the amount penalties the Edmonton Oilers took themselves they didn’t do themselves any favours. The good news Oilers fans is that this was the first road preseason game.

We know that NHL teams like to keep their better players at home during the preseason. Add in the fact that its still very early in the preseason, I wouldn’t put any weight in the outcome of this game tonight.

The Oilers look to get back to their winning ways on Wednesday as they take on the Calgary Flames in Calgary. The game will start at 7PM. Hopefully Edmonton will send a higher skill lineup to that game. If not they are home against the Flames on Friday at 7PM. I would expect a good lineup for that game.
