The Edmonton Oilers have had a busy offseason. They have said goodbye to a lot of key parts to the future of the team like Ethan Bear and Caleb Jones, but in doing so they have helped their team by adding some depth to their roster.

Today I want to give five takeaways from all the moves we have seen the past few weeks. It has been a busy time, and while hockey is more than a month away, the lineup is definitely taking shape now.

The Edmonton Oilers will always have a good lineup with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on board, but now with the additions to the team they made this offseason, now maybe they will have a good enough lineup to go on a playoff run.

On paper, this team is better than they were they lost to the Winnipeg Jets. Now it comes down to how they play on the ice, and what the lineup ends up looking like for next season. Before I give my five thoughts on the moves, let’s just go over what the lineup could look like next season.

Hyman – McDavid – Puljujarvi

Nugent-Hopkins – Draisaitl – Yamamoto

Foegele – McLeod – Shore

Archibald – Ryan – Kassian

Nurse – Barrie

Keith – Ceci

Russell – Bouchard

Smith

The Oilers have made some pretty big additions this offseason adding guys like Hyman, Keith, Ceci, and Foegele to name a few. Now we just have to wait and see how they end up playing on the ice. Which brings me to my first thought on all of the moves.
