The day after the Edmonton Oilers beat one of the league's best, they went in and hammered one of the league's worst. Waking up this morning the Edmonton Oilers are only 3 points out of the final wild card. This is mostly due to the Oilers being the hottest team right now with their current 5 game-winning streak.

At the start of the season, Oilers fans were in the dumps about how bad their team was. It made sense as they had a record of 2-9-1. Since then they have played excellent hockey and now have a record of 18-15-1. Since November 9th they have had a record of 16-7-0.

They have been beating all the teams that they should be and have either won or had a tight game in the majority of the games where they played high-end opponents. This is quite different from early on in the season, cue the record changes.

Oilers Win 5th Straight As They Defeat Ducks

The way this game played out wasn't much of a surprise, I expected the Oilers to have a bit of a slow start as they just played the night before in LA, a game that went to a shootout. After they got their legs back under them they took control of the game.

The game was tied 1-1 till about 3 minutes left in the 1st then Evander Kane scored at the 17:22 mark. After that, the game was all Oilers. The Oilers scored 3 goals in the second period and the game was pretty much over after that. The Ducks scored one early in the third then the Oilers added two more on their way to a 7-2 win.

The Oilers are now at home for 2 games against the Flyers and Senators before heading out on another 3 game road trip. The way the Oilers playing right now and I see the schedule I don't see any losses coming soon, but knowing the OIlers they will have one bad game. That won't be an issue just as long as they don't go on another extending losing streak.
