After losing 3 straight to the Florida Panthers the Oilers finally found some life after an 8-1 game 4 win.

Following 3 straight subpar games where the Oilers were unable to beat the Florida Panthers, last night the Edmonton Oilers were able to break through and get a win finally, and in dominating fashion to boot. After scoring a total of 4 goals in the first three games the Oilers' offence went off to tally 8 goals in the must-win game 4.

Scoring 8 goals against the stingy defence of the Panthers will do a lot of good to the confidence of the Edmonton Oilers. Going into game 4 there were two main issues that faced the Oilers. One was their ability to not score goals, at the end of game 3 the Oilers were finally to put up some goals and I think that carried into game 4. The other main issue was massive errors that led to goals, while the Oilers did have some mistakes, none were so massive that they directly ended up in a goal against.

Moving forward now it appears that the Oilers hold all of the momentum. For the Panthers they can either handle the defeat in one of two ways. They will either look at it and realize they might be in trouble because the Oilers have figured it out, or they can look in the mirror and tell themselves they need to be better. In my opinion, there is a bit of both at play. The Oilers played their best game, and while the Panthers played well, they can still play better than what they showed us last night.

Game 5 will take place on Tuesday back down in Florida. Once again the Stanley Cup will be in the building if the Panthers happen to win, but looking at the way game 4 went it looks like the Oilers are not willing to go down without a fight. For Florida I would be worried that the stars of the Oilers have woken up in this series with McDavid getting 4 points, and Draisaitl and Hyman getting 2 points in the last game. If the Panthers can't stop them then I have a good feeling about this Oilers team moving forward.
