Waking Up With The Edmonton Oilers- Oilers Need To Move On From Loss Quickly

The Edmonton Oilers lost to the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 in a shootout. They don't have time to linger on the blown 2 goal lead as they are in Pittsburg for another early game today.

Yesterday morning the Edmonton Oilers played the Buffalo Sabres, a team that sits in 6th place in the Atlantic Divison, At one point the Oilers were up 2-0 and they were not able to hold the lead the Sabres were able to come back a win the game in a shootout.

This game was the opposite of most the the previous games for the Oilers. In the past, the Oilers have given up leads early and were able to come back and win. Yesterday they were able to get an early lead, but let it slip away. The only good news was they were able to get one point at least.

One of the strange moments in the games yesterday was when the Sabres looked to have won the game in overtime as a puck went past Skinner and into the net, both teams were on their way to the dressing room and I assume some were already undressed, when the Oilers had a successful offside challange, negating the goal.

It did not change the outcome of the game though as the Sabres still ended up with the extra point in the shootout. With the loss the Oilers are now winless in two games, hopefully they can right the ship today as they face the Pittsburg Penguins at 11 AM MST.

Edmonton Oilers Versus Pittsburg Penguins

The last time the Oilers faced the Penguins the Oilers won the handily with a 6-1 a week ago. That was one of the better games the Oilers have played recently. In a perfect world, they come out and play just like that again and can bounce back quickly after yesterday's loss.

The Penguins are also winless in their last two games, but they have lost in very different ways than the Oilers. They have been getting demolished as of late. losing their last 2 games by a total of 11-1. The Oilers need to take advantage of this struggling team if they want to keep their hopes of winning the Pacific Division alive.

I wouldn't expect many lineup changes today strickly due to such a quick turnaround, you may see a change in the fouth line as Brown could come out. One change we know will happen is in net. With Skinner playing yesterday, Calvin Pickard should be getting the start today.
