Waking Up With The Edmonton Oilers- Game Day In St. Louis
The Edmonton Oilers head out on a 2 game road trip and hope to extend their winning streak to 4 games.
The Edmonton Oilers head out on the road after a successful two-game winning streak that saw them defeat the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks by a combined score of 10-2. While neither of those two teams are the offensive juggernauts the fact the Oilers only allowed one goal per game is a nice sign the Oilers' defensive game is starting to click.
Now the Oilers head to St. Louis tonight where they will face the Blues. The Blues still have a small chance of making the playoffs so this game along with every remaining game is a must game for them. The Oilers on the other hand are very close to clinching a playoff spot. A win tonight would get them extremely close to getting the "X" next to their name in the standings.
As it sits right now the Oilers are 12 points ahead of the Blues and the Blues have 8 games left. If the Blues win the rest of their games they will end up with 98 points. The Oilers currently have 94 points, so a win tonight will put them at 96 points while the max the Blues will be able to get in that case would be 96 which would not be enough to overtake the Oilers, so the Oilers would need one more point to clinch.
The Rest Of The Pacific
While The Oilers seemed to be cemented in that 2nd spot the spots below them are very fluid right now. It all depends on what type of streak the teams are on. Right now the Golden Knights are on a 2 game winning streak so they sit in 3rd spot. While the Kings are losers of 2 straight, so they sit in the 2nd Wild Card spot.
Vegas now holds a 3-point lead over the King while the Kings still have one game in hand. This race will be right throughout the rest of the season. The race will be one the Oilers and their fans will be keeping an eye on because it will determine who the Oilers will be playing in the first round.
Edmonton Oilers Vs St. Louis Blues
Both the Oilers and St. Louis Blues are 7-2-1 in their last 10. The Oilers want to secure their spot in the playoffs and the Blues want to keep their hopes alive. This will be a very hard-fought game for both of the teams as there is a lot on the line. That being said the Oilers are still the favorites going in.
