Now that the Edmonton Oilers have won 2 games in a row the series is now at the point it would be after 5 games if the home teams have won every home game. The Oilers now find themselves in the scenario they were in against the Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers were down 3-2 in that series are won games 6 and 7 to move on. If they can do that again they will be Stanley Cup Champs.
If only it was that easy though, the Florida Panthers are not going to go down easily and all they have to do is win one of the next two games. While the Oilers have all the momentum in the series, it can change at any moment, just like it did for game 4 when the Oilers won 8-1. Although the way the Oilers are playing it looks like they could drag this series out.
Is Sergei Bobrovsky Broken?
After having an SV% of 1.00, 0.947 and 0.914 in the first 3 games Sergei Bobrovsky's game has fallen off a cliff. Getting pulled in game 4 with an SV% of 0.688 and putting in a0.826 last night, it looks like the Oilers have solved Bobrovsky. That alone may have changed the tide of this series.
Bobrovsky has been known to be streaky in the past and has long stretches where he struggles may be one of those funks again. If the Panthers want to win the cup, then they are going to need Bob to get back to the form he had in games 1, 2 and most of 3.
Now begins the longest two days for Oilers fans, while excitement will be extremely high in Edmonton over the next couple of days, the excitement will be coupled with anxiety as while the Oilers are playing well right now they haven't won anything and there are still 2 more wins before they get to that point. The first game will be Friday then if they win game 7 will be on Monday in Florida.
