The NHL has announced the original 32 players that are going to be playing in the NHL All-Star game this year. In the first group there is only one player from every team. For the Edmonton Oilers the one player preselected was obviously Connor McDavid.
For Oilers fans there are still a few players on their team that should end up in the All-Star game. The fact that the NHL still puts a player from every team is still a bit strange in my opinion. No offense to the players from the worst teams, but no all of them have an All-Star on their team.
Just cause Frank Vatrano is one of the better players on the Anaheim Ducks, by no means does that mean that he is an All-Star. The fact that he made this game means another player who is one of the best-performing players in the league won't get in.
The Edmonton Oilers are a team that could have up to four players on the All-Star team. They already have McDavid on the team. Draisaitl also will likely be on the team. For this season though I think that Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard should be considered All-Stars this year.
Hyman is currently in the top 10 in goals in the NHL with 22 and I assume that all the players around him in that category will be on the All-Star team, so why shouldn't Hyman? For Bouchard, he is 5th in the league in points by a defenseman. So there is a very strong case that the Oilers should have four players in the All-Star Game.
