It almost seemed like neither the Los Angeles King nor the Vegas Golden Knights did not want to face the Edmonton Oilers in the first round based on the games they played last night. The Golden Knights lost 4-1 to the Anaheim Ducks while the Kings were up 3-1 going into the third only to have the Chicago Blackhawks score 3 straight goals to take a 4-3 win.

It took till the final minutes of the game for the Kings to tie the game and force overtime and in doing so overtook the Knights in the standings. The goal was scored on the powerplay cause Kurashev shot the puck over the glass. Once the game got to OT it took almost no time for the Kings to win it.

Edmonton Oilers Vs Los Angeles Kings: Round 3

After a whole year, the Edmonton Oilers will be once again be gearing up to face the Los Angeles Kings in the first round. This will be the 3rd consecutive year that this is the first-round matchup. The Oilers won the 2 previous rounds in 7 and 6 games.

For the Oilers, I think this is the best team they have had going into this series and for the Kings, I think this may be their worst lineup. There is no doubt heading into this series that the Oilers are fairly heavy favorites. Hopefully, they can play that way and get to the next round where they would face the winner of the Vancouver Canucks and Nashville Predators.

There is still no official schedule for the Oilers first round, but it does look like they may be opening up at Rogers Place on Monday with game 2 being on Thursday before the series would shift to Los Angeles for game 3 and 4. One thing I am looking forward to is game that have real meaning again. Will it ratchet up my anxiety? Of course it will, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
