As we approach the midpoint of the NHL season, it's time to review the performance of Darnell Nurse, the Edmonton Oilers defenseman. Nurse has been an integral part of the Oilers' success this season, showcasing his versatility and leadership on both ends of the ice.

At the start of the season, Nurse was tasked with anchoring the Oilers' defense, a role he has excelled in thus far, minus the rough start that the whole team had. He has played in all 32 games this season, recording 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) and averaging 22:32 minutes of ice time per game.

One area where Nurse took a hit the season is his offensive production. He in the past been one of the top scoring defensemen in the league. His dip in offensive numbers is likely due to his drop in ice time and being moved to a more defensive role. Since the team has brought in Ekholm, Nurse doesn't play as many minutes and gets the tougher players as Ekholm is paired with Bouchard.

But Nurse's impact goes beyond just his offensive production. He has been solid on the Oilers' blue line, the pairing with Cody Ceci play against opposing teams' top players and mostly shut them down. He has also been a leader both on and off the ice, setting a positive example for his teammates and helping to instill a winning culture in the locker room.

Overall, I would give Darnell Nurse a B for his performance so far this season. While he has been one of the best defensemen in the league in terms of offensive production, he has also been a key defensive player for the Oilers, playing a physical and aggressive game that has helped shut down opposing teams' attacks.

Looking ahead, Nurse will be a crucial player for the Oilers as they look to make a deep playoff run this season. If he can continue to play at the level he has been playing at so far this season, he will be a valuable asset for the team in all situations. With his dedication to the game and his ability to lead by example, Darnell Nurse is a player that any team would be lucky to have on their roster.
