In a very nerve-racking final period, the Edmonton Oilers have defeated the Dallas Stars in game six 2-1 and are now moving on to face the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals. For the first time since 2006, the Edmonton Oilers will have a chance to hoist the cup, but first, they will need to defeat the Florida Panthers.

The Oilers had a perfect start to the game as they were able to two score powerplay goals in the first period. The first goal by Connor McDavid was an absolute beauty as he toe-dragged around Heskienen before beating Oettinger. For the second goal, McDavid drew two defencemen towards him then slid the puck to Hyman and Hyman made no mistake and beat the Stars goalie.

After that point, the big stars of the game were both the Oilers penalty kill and Stuart Skinner. The Oilers took 3 penalties once they were up by two but they were able to kill off all powerplays. The Oilers penalty kill didn't allow the Stars to score a single goal all series.

As for Stuart Skinner, he back-stopped the Oilers to this win for sure. He faced 35 shots while his counterpart only had to face 10. The fact that the Oilers won this game is nothing short of a miracle if you just looked at the stat sheet you would have thought there was no way the Oilers came out on top, but thanks to Skinner the Oilers are now moving onto the Cup Final.

The Oilers will now have a couple of days off before the start of the Stanley Cup Finals. The finals start this Saturday in Florida as the Panthers finished higher in the standing than the Oilers. As much as the Oilers are celebrating their win now they know the work is far from over.
