In a game that may have taken 3 years off my life, the Edmonton Oilers won a game in overtime in which they never had the lead till Bouchard scored the overtime winner. It was an up-and-down game throughout, but it was an exciting game to watch even though it was extremely stressful.
Evan Bouchard emerged as the hero, clinching a crucial victory for the Edmonton Oilers against the Vancouver Canucks in Game 2 of this series. Bouchard's decisive goal, a powerful shot from the right circle, found its mark after a fortuitous deflection off Canucks defenseman Ian Cole's stick blade, a bad break for Cole, but a good break for Oilers fans.
The Oilers' duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl showcased their brilliance after being put on the same line together, each contributing a goal and three assists to the team's cause. Meanwhile, goaltender Stuart Skinner made 16 saves, he may have let in one weak one, but he shut it down after that.
Draisaitl's presence was especially impactful, considering his uncertain status leading up to the game due to a potential injury. Teaming up with McDavid on the top line for this game, Draisaitl continued his stellar playoff performance, extending his point streak to seven games and putting his total of 16 points, trailing only behind McDavid in NHL scoring.
Despite the Canucks' valiant efforts, including Elias Pettersson's first playoff goal and Nikita Zadorov's weaker goal, it wasn't enough to withstand the pressure from the Oilers. The third period of this game was the best period the Oilers played in this series. It was the opposite of game one as the Oilers outshot the Canucks 15-2.
This series will pick up again on Sunday back in Edmonton. With the Oilers stealing one game in Vancouver they now have the upper hand in the series. With the Oilers fans behind them, the Oilers should be the favourite heading into Sunday's game. I am very excited to see how once again get very stressed over a sporting event.
