After playing a nearly perfect first period the Edmonton Oilers followed it up with a terrible second period that cost them the game.

Coming into this game I had a good feeling the Oilers would come out strong and play a solid first period in front of their own fans. Unfortunately, the Oilers decided to come out and play their worst period of the series after they played their best. The Oilers were up 2-0 heading into the first intermission but found themselves down 3-2 before Adam Henrique scored a last minute goal to tie the game late in the second period. The Stars were able to score first in the third period and then added an empty netter to cap things off.

The outcome of this game is starting to worry me about the Oilers willingness to hold on to a lead. It seems on this post season run that the Oilers seem to be blowing leading, especially leads that they get early in the game. I do have to give credit to the Dallas Stars cause they did fight back after getting outplayed completely in the first period.

I think that the problem is that the Oilers need to stop taking their foot off the pedal. It seems once they get a comfortable lead they get back on their heels and give the other team all the momentum, tonight was no different. As soon as the Stars scored that first goal the whole game shifted in their favour. Even after Henrique scored to tie the game up, the Oilers barely had any solid chances to score. At that same time, the Stars looked like they wanted this game way more.

One area the Oilers need to improve on is their powerplay. Being one of the best in the league during the regular season and this playoffs they needed to get one tonight. It would possibly have brought this team back from the dead in this game if they were able to score on one of their powerplays.

The Oilers now have till Wednesday to work on their flaws. This is as must win as you can get without being an elimination game. You do not want to be down 3-1 to the Dallas Stars, they are a good team and will not let the Oilers win 3 straight games.
