3 Edmonton Oilers Who Are Set To Have A Breakout Season in 2024-25

Last season we saw the emergence of Zach Hyman with his 50 goals and Evan Bouchard's 82 points, who could be this season's breakout players.

Dylan Holloway

Edmonton Oilers 1st round selection in the 2020 NHL entry draft, Dylan Holloway was selected 14th overall that draft year. Since then, Holloway has only played in 89 regular season games for the Edmonton Oilers. On top of that, he also has played in 26 playoff games. In his 89 regular season games he has a total of 9 goals and 9 assists for a total of 18 points which puts him at 0.20 points/game. In his 26 playoff games, he has 5 goals and 2 assists for 7 points which is 0.28 points/game.

This is because Holloway plays minimal minutes due to his lack of experience. In the postseason when he averaged 11:30 of ice time which was slightly more than his season average of 11:22. You can see that he was gaining confidence in the playoffs and that Kris Knoblauch wasn't afraid to use him in high-pressure, high-intensity games. With that in mind, I think he is going to have a big bump in points this season.

Not only because he is going to be relied on more, but because he is going to have better linemates for the whole 82 games. Right now, it looks like Holloway will be playing left wing on a line with Adam Henrique and Corey Perry. Both of these players did not play the whole season with the Edmonton Oilers last season. No offence to Warren Foegele and Ryan McLeod, but I think these linemates are a better fit for Dylan Holloway.

With Holloway being only 22 years old, being put on a line with two NHL veterans should boost his game and allow him to learn all aspects of the game better. Having this experience added to his game should bump up his stats quite a bit. I would not be surprised to see Holloway score at least double his career-high in points this season. While his previous high is quite low cause he has yet to play a full season. Holloway getting something like 10 goals and 20 assists should not be out of the question.
