Oilers once again off to bad start to the season

Last night with their loss to the Calgary Flames the Oilers are 0-3 to start the season. After how they started last season this is not what they wanted.

Heading into this season all eyes were on the Edmonton Oilers. They were picked by many to win the Stanley Cup after they found playoff success last season, but so far this season they look nothing close to a Stanley Cup contender they look the exact opposite of that. With an 0-3 start the Oilers have already put themselves behind the 8-ball.

It is not just the fact that they are 0-3 that is an issue it is who those losses came against. Of the three losses 2 of them came against teams that are projected to near the bottom of the league. Both the Calgary Flames and the Chicago Blackhawks are in the middle of a rebuilding period, on paper there is no way that the Oilers should have lost to either of those teams, but the Oilers on the ice right now are nowhere near as good as the Oilers on paper.

Every Player Needs To Be Better

There is not one player on the Oilers that has played a good game yet for the Oilers. Being the captain of this team, Connor McDavid needs to find a way to turn this team around before they start to spiral out of control like last season. While going 0-3 is not the end of the world, this Oilers team has been known to be streaky and they do not want to start the season on a big losing streak.

The Oilers will have a chance to end their streak Tuesday as they host the Philadelphia Flyers at home. The Flyers are once again a team the Edmonton Oilers should be able to beat, but I guess we thought that about the last 2 games. At this point in the season, I want to see improvement and to me, that starts with being able to score more than 1(legal) goal a game. This team is supposed to be the most powerful offense in the NHL and after 3 games they only have 2 goals. If they want to win that is where they need to improve.
