After three straight losses, the Edmonton Oilers have started their series comeback, winning 4-1 in a must-win game five back in Edmonton. This means the Oilers survive another game and will be headed back to Anaheim to face the Ducks on Thursday.
After the Oilers opened the scoring just under two and a half minutes into the game, they never looked back and held the lead until the final buzzer. It was a dominant performance thanks to a number of players.
Oilers dominate Ducks
The Oilers' Tuesday night win saw strong efforts from various players throughout the lineup.
Leon Draisaitl
Oilers German star Leon Draisaitl has been on fire in this series against the Ducks and he continued this excellence in game five. Heading into the game, Draisaitl had seven points (one goal, six assists) through the first four games and on Tuesday night, he added two goals.
If he can keep up this level of play, he may give the Oilers a chance to come back in this series and the team will have to lean on him.
Connor Ingram
The Oilers starter, Connor Ingram had a much needed steadying performance. The 29 year old has struggled so far this postseason, forcing the club to give the previous start to Tristan Jarry to try and right the ship and unfortunately he did not work out.
Going into the game Ingram had a 1-2-0 record with a 0.850 save percentage, failing to surpass the .900 save percentage mark any game before this one. Ingram stopped 29 of 30 shots in this game, finishing with another 'w' in the wins column and a .967 save percentage.
Connor McDavid
After the Oilers captain Connor McDavid missed the morning skate, sending many fans and those around the hockey world into a frenzy. After much anxiety, he did take warmups and played in this game, notching two assists, helping the Oilers pick up a win.

He has taken a lot of flack in this series for not being impactful enough but he showed up in the series' most important game so far. Like Draisaitl, the Oilers will need him to step up and be a much more impactful player for his club.
Can the Oilers win game six?
Although coming back from a 3-1 series defecit is nearly impossible, the Oilers have the pieces that could allow them to do this. McDavid, Draisaitl, and even Evan Bouchard have the abilities to take over games and the Oilers will need more of that in game six and hopefully, game seven.
It is never over until it is over but it will not be easy and will be an uphill battle until the very end, especially with the impressive play of the Oilers young pieces. Cutter Gauthier has shown his high end scoring ability while Leo Carlsson has been just as if not more impressive as the Ducks' top pivot.
If the right combination of their big guns showing up and their goaltender shutting the door can happen, the Oilers have a real opportunity to do the impossible and come back and win this series.
