Edmonton Oilers fans will not have to wait long to see Jake Walman return to a hockey broadcast.
Not only will that take the form of a potential return against the Utah Mammoth on Saturday, but also one that isn't typically expected.
On Monday, Walman will be one of four NHL players to take part in a special episode of The Price is Right Tonight. The other three NHL players that will feature on The Price is Right Tonight are 2018 Stanley Cup champion Tom Wilson, 2025 top draft pick Matthew Schaefer, and 2024 Stanley Cup champion Brandon Montour.
The special episode will mark the second time that NHL players will be involved in a Price is Right episode to some capacity. But while this occasion will feature a defensive masterclass of sorts, especially given that three of the four NHL players involved in this edition are defensemen, the last time that the show aired an episode with professional hockey players saw a big-name hockey rivalry take to the game show stage. Yes, Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin - the two faces of the NHL during the late 2000's and early 2010's - faced off during a 2010 episode of the show.
The Price is Right Tonight acts as the game show's Canadian adaptation; it originally entered the Canadian television scene in the fall of 2026 in place of Canada's Got Talent. The first season of the show ran during the spring of 2026 and was subsequently given the green light for a second running.
Fans that might be concerned about Walman's performance and injury status won't have to worry at all about the possibility that his involvement in the game show acts as a distraction from any on-ice happenings. The new season was actually filmed well in advance of the start of the last hockey season; Walman, Montour, Wilson, and Schaefer were all involved in filming the episode during the summer.
There also shouldn't be any worries about whether the special episode will force people to miss watching an Oilers contest. The Oilers will have two days off between the second leg of their home-and-home series with the Utah Mammoth on Saturday and the first game of their home stand on Tuesday, which will see them take on the Minnesota Wild. One of those two days will see the episode air on Citytv; the episode will air on the cable network on Monday, October 19 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. It will also be available to stream on the channel's streaming branch, Citytv+, immediately after the episode airs.
