The Edmonton Oilers got good news before last night's game, that their captain and best player in the NHL would be injected back into their lineup. Connor McDavid had missed the past several games with an injury he got against the Winnipeg Jets in late March. He instantly made his presence felt by getting 3 assists in last night's win.

While McDavid put up 3 assists, there was another Connor that stole the show. Connor Brown scored twice including the game-winner with less than a minute left in the game. Brown just like last season appears to be heating up at the right time of the year, just as the Oilers are heading into the playoffs. Arvidsson and Podkolzin added the other 2 goals in a game where all the goals were scored by depth players, which to be fair makes sense cause at this point either the injuries they are all depth players.

With the win, the Oilers are now only one point away from clinching a playoff spot. The Flames OT loss to the Ducks last night allowed the Oilers to gain one point on them, so either one more point for the Oilers or another loss by the Flames and the Oilers will book their ticket to the postseason. While it is unlikely they catch the Los Angeles Kings. The Oilers are still 2 points behind them and the Kings have a game in hand.

The Oilers are back in action tomorrow when they host the San Jose Sharks back down at Rogers Place. This is a game the Oilers should win and if the Oilers keep on winning they will at least have a chance to catch the Kings for that home-ice advantage in the first series of the playoffs since there is no chance they will catch the Golden Knights the best they can now hope for is second in the Pacific.

A very important game for the Oilers is the game on 14th where they will be facing off against the Kings. If that game could very well be the game that decides which team will finishing in second place and will have home ice in that first round. The Kings have one of the best records at home this season so home ice for the Oilers would be a good thing to get this season more than it had in the past.
