Alex Chiasson, a winger and Stanley Cup champion, has officially announced his retirement from the NHL after 11 seasons. Drafted in the second round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars, Chiasson enjoyed a career marked by perseverance, versatility, and memorable moments.

Early Years and Breakthrough

The Montreal, Quebec native began his NHL journey with the Stars, making his debut on April 3, 2013. Chiasson quickly made an impression, scoring six goals in just seven games during his rookie stint with Dallas. Over two seasons with the Stars, he tallied 42 points in 86 games before being traded to the Ottawa Senators in 2014.

In Ottawa, Chiasson played two seasons, contributing 40 points across 153 games. After a brief stint with the Calgary Flames in 2016-17, he signed with the Washington Capitals ahead of the 2017-18 season.

A Career Highlight: Stanley Cup Glory

Chiasson's time in Washington was brief but unforgettable. He was part of the Capitals team that won the Stanley Cup on June 7, 2018, cementing his legacy as a champion. While not the most prominent player on the roster, his depth contributions and hard-nosed play made him a valuable asset during the Capitals' historic run.

Career Year in Edmonton

Following his championship season, Chiasson signed with the Edmonton Oilers, where he enjoyed a career-best 2018-19 campaign. He scored 22 goals and added 16 assists for 38 points in 73 games, including a personal-high eight power-play goals. In total, Chiasson appeared in 183 games for the Oilers across three seasons, recording 78 points.

Later Years and Final Chapter

After leaving Edmonton, Chiasson joined the Vancouver Canucks for the 2021-22 season, where he scored 22 points in 67 games. He then signed with the Detroit Red Wings, appearing in 20 games during the 2022-23 season before wrapping up his NHL career.

In total, Alex Chiasson played 651 regular-season games, amassing 233 points (120 goals, 113 assists). He was also a reliable power-play performer, scoring 43 goals with the man advantage.
