After Leon Draisaitl scored a late goal to put them up 3-2 the Edmonton Oilers were able to get the full two points last night against the hot Anaheim Ducks. Heading into last night's game, the Ducks won three straight games against top 10 teams in the league, but that ended last night as the Oilers were able to build an early lead and eventually ride it out to a win.
While it is good that the Oilers got the two points the way in which they got it could be improved on. At one point the Oilers were up 2 goals, but the Ducks erased that lead an were able to tie it up. Good news for the Oilers though is Draisaitl was able to break the tie late in the game. The Oilers moving forward will need to work on holding their leads.
Seattle Kraken roll into Rogers Place tonight
The Oilers will have a chance to work on their game tonight again as they host the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken have not played a game since Thursday so they will be coming into Edmonton well rested, while the Oilers played just last night. In the aspect of who is more rested the Kraken may have the advantage, but when it comes to roster build the Oilers are better in almost every area.
The Oilers for sure have an advantage at forward, that is mostly because when it comes to forwards the Oilers may actually have the best forward group on the NHL. For defense, the likes of Nurse, Ekholm and Bouchard in my opinion are better as a collective over the top 3 that the Kraken have.
One place the Kraken may have an advantage is in net. The reason for that being that Stuart Skinner started last night against the Ducks, which means Calvin Pickard will be getting the start tonight. While Pickard and Skinner currently have almost identical numbers, there is no doubt that as of late Skinner has been the better of the two goalies. So, the fact that the Kraken will be using their number one goalie means the Oilers will be hosting the better of the two goalies.
The Oilers need to get back on another winning streak if they hope to move up on the standings. The Golden Knights are well ahead of the Oilers in the standings and the Oilers need to keep winning if they want to have a chance to have home ice throughout the playoffs.
