The Edmonton Oilers follow up their convincing 4-0 victory over the Seattle Kraken on the weekend with a return home, facing the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night. This helped the team stay just one point back of a playoff spot right now.
It is expected there will be no lineup changes for the Oilers as defenceman Jake Walman is still not ready to return to their defensive rotation, battling an injury that has kept him out for a few games.
This game is the first of five straight at home, giving the team a great opportunity to turn their season around. If they can carry the momentum over from their game against the Kraken where starting goalie Stuart Skinner stood on his head, stopping all 26 shots he faced.
Aside from him, there was plenty of contributions from the Oilers stars like Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid to put the team over the edge.
It will of course be another storyline as the Oilers face the Wild and their red hot goaltender, Jesper Wallstedt. He is the goalie they passed on in the draft just a few years ago, taking Xavier Bourgault instead.
Players to watch
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
The Oilers former first overall pick, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins played a big part of the team's decisive win on Saturday, racking up a two-point night (one goal, one assist). He has been a big contributor this season and despite playing as the third line centre, has been able to provide quality depth.
Evan Bouchard
The Oilers top pairing defenceman, Evan Bouchard has been on a heater, notching five points (one goal, four assists) over his past three games. He enters Tuesday's game with a lot of momentum and having turned his season around sharply from his early season struggles.
Stuart Skinner
Following up his performance last game would be difficult but would be exactly what the Oilers need to help turn their season around. Goaltending has been a major talking point this season, even prompting Oilers reporter Jim Matheson to call out Skinner's unpopularity to his face.
This is getting brutal. We’ve got media guys asking Stu if it hurts that fans don’t want him in Edmonton anymore. Handled that question like a pro though.

You can’t help but feel for Stu here. Shameless stuff from Matheson. pic.twitter.com/geF4Bry85K
