Another Edmonton Oilers loss, another article where I have to write about how the Edmonton Oilers come out strong, but eventually blow up. Tell me if you have heard this one before, but I know you already have.

I liked the Edmonton Oilers start, they were completely manhandling the Vancouver Canucks. I don’t think the Canucks had puck control over the redline in the first five minutes. The Oilers only got one goal early on and they couldn’t get the second one.

After that, it was really all down hill for the Edmonton Oilers. The bottom line is this team needs to be better in all aspects if they want to get back in the hunt for a playoff spot.

No Killer Extinct

This game is a prime example of the Edmonton Oilers stopping playing their game once they face a little bit of adversity. As soon as Vancouver scored one goal the Oilers just folded. They allowed 3 straight goals after they had a great start.

Then there is a slight bit of life when the Edmonton Oilers get the game to within a one-goal game. After that, the Oilers go full Oilers and let the Canucks answer in under three minutes. If the Oilers had any momentum it was gone at that point.

Edmonton Oilers Need An Internal Answer

I wonder what this team is saying in the locker room. They can show emotion on the ice by taking stupid penalties while in post-play scrums, but I need to see if these players battle with each other in the room.

When Evan Bouchard makes a bad play, is there someone in the room telling him that he made a stupid play? Is there a leadership issue with this team in the room or are people just not listening to advice given out?

I am no hockey expert, but I can not figure out why this team is doing so badly to start this season. They have pretty much the same roster as last year. If see another bringback Klim Kostin trade idea I am going to lose my mind.

Mental Issues

I believe that the fact this team falls apart so easily is because this team is in their own head. I think they have the “here we go again”  attitude. They feel good when they are winning a game, but as soon as something goes slightly wrong their game falls right off a cliff.

I think they will win against the San Jose Sharks, but that is cause the Sharks are terrible. Hopefully, that win will turn the attitude around. Although, I thought that was going to happen in the only other two wins they got.

Next. 3 Takeaways from the last week of Oilers hockey. dark

It is going to be a long couple of days here in Edmonton, but I think this may be rock bottom for this team. The only way it gets a bit lower is if they do lose to the Sharks.
