It may have taken a lot longer than Edmonton Oilers fans may have wanted, but the Oilers finally have their first win of the 2023-24 NHL season. The win tonight came fairly handily at the expense of the Nashville Predators.
This game had everything you could want from an Edmonton Oilers fan perspective. Highlight reel saves and goals, the Oilers lead the whole way so there were never any nerves and the game was over at a manageable time cause it started at 6 pm.
The Edmonton Oilers Brought Their Game Tonight
Going into tonight the main story was the fact that Jay Woodcroft was loading up the top line by putting McDavid and Draisaitl with Evander Kane. The thing is he may have actually accidently formed a better second line.
The Nugent-Hopkins, Hyman and Foegele line was hands down the best line tonight, combining for 10 points between the three of them. The line was responsible for 3 even strength goals. This is good because coming into tonight this team only had one 5 on 5 goal all season.

McDavid Scores Another Highlight Reel Goal
There is a lot I can say about this goal as I have watched it no less than 50 times already. The way Connor McDavid keeps his eye on the puck and still maintains his balance to collect the puck after he gets spun around is impressive on its own.
He then takes it to a level only McDavid can as he picks up the puck, breaks in and fires a perfectly placed shot to beat one of the better goalies in the league. The video is below for your multiple-viewing experiences.
Jack Is Back?
I don’t think there was a way the Edmonton Oilers didn’t win the way they were playing tonight, but the score could have been a lot closer if it wasn’t for the play of Jack Campbell tonight. Campbell went out tonight and dropped a 0.977SV%. This was just what the doctor ordered for not only the Oilers but for Campbell as well.
Oilers latest injury news, including update on Brady Stonehouse
While the Edmonton Oilers are in a much better position now health-wise, there are still some injury concerns within the organization.
The Edmonton Oilers continue their road trip on Thursday as they face the Philadelphia Flyers. If they play the same way they played tonight they should roll back into Edmonton as a 0.500 team.
