In a hunt for revenge in their home opener, the Edmonton Oilers will host the Vancouver Canucks in the second half of a home-and-home series.
Coming into this game the Edmonton Oilers do not need to look back at the last game for motivation. In my opinion, the best thing they could do is pretend it never even happened. My concern is if they look at the last game they may have a knee-jerk reaction and actually end up trying to do too much individually.
When you try and do too much by yourself you are likely playing selfish hockey. When you play selfish hockey you aren’t following the game plan put forward by the coach. This is only going to hurt you and your team in the long run.
What the Edmonton Oilers need to do tonight is just play their game and everything should fall into place. They need to show up ready to play and play hard for the full 60 minutes and they will win this game. There are a few more things that they can do to help, but the main one is just playing at a high level of pace.

Edmonton Oilers Lines
I am assuming all the forward lines to be the same as they were on Wednesday unless they throw in the newly signed Adam Erne. The main difference will be on the back end where it sounds like Mattias Ekholm will be in the lineup. For the starting goalie looks like Skinner will get the start.
Kane – McDavid – Brown
Nugent-Hopkins – Draisaitl – Hyman
Holloway – McLeod – Foegele
Janmark – Erne – Ryan
Nurse – Ceci
Ekholm – Bouchard
Kulak – Desharnais
Broberg
Vancouver Canucks Lines
I wouldn’t expect any changes in the lineup for the Canucks, cause when you win a game 8-1 you tend to not change anything.
This is a big game for the Edmonton Oilers cause while they aren’t going to actually be in trouble if they start 0-2, this game needs to be a statement game. I personally expect the Edmonton Oilers to come out flying in this one and make up for Wednesday, but I also thought they were going to win on Wednesday and look what that got me.
