The Edmonton Oilers have played two preseason games so far and have won one and lost one. In these games, there has only been a handful of players that have played in both games. The players that have played both are Philip Broberg, Dylan Holloway and Xavier Bourgault.

Of those three Dylan Holloway has been the player that has impressed me the most. Not only has he been one of the few to play both games, but he was one of the better players on the ice in both games.

This is promising to see if you are an Edmonton Oilers fan. Most people have Holloway pencilled in as a third-line winger. His shining throughout these first two games makes it look like the third line may not be his limit.

There are question marks about how Connor Brown will look after coming back from his time recovering from his injury. If he does have any issues Jay Woodcroft should not hesitate to put Holloway in that role.

Holloway skated in 51 games last season before he was sent down to Bakersfield where he got injured. If not for that injury there was no doubt that he would have come back to the Edmonton Oilers and played more games.

Holloway having a good preseason is troubling if you are a Lavoie fan. Although Lavoie also played a solid game last night, but there are only so many spots open to take over. For Lavoie to make the opening night roster he is going to have to take the spot of either Holloway, Foegele, Janmark or Ryan.

Of those players the only real spot I can see Lavoie pushing someone out is Holloway. Unless either of the other three have just a terrible training camp, which I don’t see happening.

After these first couple of games, it is nice to see that Dylan Holloway is standing out. If he can still display skill like this as the preseason games go on I am going to be very excited to see what he can do throughout the regular season.

The Edmonton Oilers need homegrown talent or cheap contracts to make a difference this season with the salary cap issues. Holloway having success check that box.
