This season the Edmonton Oilers are going into the season as one of the few teams expected to win the Stanley Cup. The current roster in my opinion needs to be still improved on. No offence to this current roster, but I think there needs to be some depth added in every position. I think there is one team that if they are out of the playoff hunt at the deadline the Edmonton Oilers should make a couple trades with and that team is the Winnipeg Jets.

I think the Winnipeg Jets would be perfect trade partners for the Edmonton Oilers because they have a lot of UFAs coming due at the end of this season. They may be rentals for the Oilers, but every Stanley Cup-winning team has rental players.

With the Jets having a large variety of players coming to the end of their contracts at the end of this season they are going to want to get something for them as opposed to watching them walk for nothing. This is why they may be available if they aren’t in the race for a playoff spot.

Where Will The Edmonton Oilers Need The Most Help?

I can’t say for sure where the Edmotnon Oilers will be needing help months from now, but I can take a good guess. It will likely be the same area as it has been in years past and that is on the defensive side of the game. More exact limiting goals against.

All the players listed above would increase the defensive aspect of the Edmonton Oilers game. If either of these players are brought in and can even make the change of one goal every 3 games it is a move worth making if I was Ken Holland. The team has been needing to improve defensively for years now, maybe the following players noted will be able to help them out.
