Is Connor Brown A Good Fit For The Edmonton Oilers?
Things around the NHL are crazy at this time of year. Every team has its own rumors directly related to them and the Edmonton Oilers are no different. The one rumour I think may come true for the Oilers is that Connor Brown will sign here as a free agent.

Connor Brown has an injury-plagued career only playing the entire season 3 times. Last season was the worst of them all when he only played in 4 games while with the Washington Capitals. In his career, he has played 448 and has 90 goals and 126 assists totalling 216 points. This gives him just under half a point a game.

One more point of Connor Brown that makes him likely to come and play for the Edmonton Oilers is that he played with Connor McDavid on the Erie Otters. They played on the same team for the 2012-2013 season and the 2013-2014 season.
In those two years, Connor Brown actually scored more points than McDavid. In that time frame, Brown got 197 points in 131 games whereas McDavid got 165 points in 119 games. There is no doubt that the Edmonton Oilers would like to bring back this type of production to the NHL level.
Edmonton Oilers Need To Be Careful About The Connor Brown Injuries
The main issue with Connor Brown is his injury history. He is coming off a season where he only played 4 games. He was injured on October 17th in a game against the Vancouver Canucks, on the hit he tore his ACL.
The recovery time for that injury is somewhere between 6-8 months. He should be healthy and ready to play at the start of this coming season with time to spare to help get him back in shape. The issue for the Edmonton Oilers is whether will he get injured again.
Bringing in a player just to have him get injured is really the worst case for both the team and the player. Connor Brown would know as that is exactly what happened in Washington. There are no winners in a scenario where Brown gets hurt.
The good news for the Edmonton Oilers though is due to the Connor Brown injury is the fact that his cap hit will be low as he hasn’t seen much NHL game action in a long time. This is why I think now would be a good time for both him and the Oilers to link up.
Even if he signs a deal for one or two seasons, we have seen players pump up their stats while playing in Edmonton, then leave and get a good raise as their stats indicate they should. Edmonton benefits because they get the player for cheap in the trial time period.
I would expect if this deal does get done that it will be for short term and low dollars. Which is exactly what the Edmonton Oilers are looking for right now.
