With the Edmonton Oilers losing in the second round of the NHL Playoffs, they need to find a way to upgrade their team.

Edmonton Oilers Need To Win Now

There is no more “just make the Playoffs” attitude in the City of Edmonton anymore. The fans are expecting this team to go on a very deep run this year. In my opinion, anything but a Cup final appearance is going to be looked at as a failure. In order to get better the Oilers need to improve their roster.

Free agency is under a month away. While the Edmonton Oilers have minimal money to spend to get better. Here are 3 players I would like to see in an Oilers jersey.

Jonathan Toews

The Edmonton Oilers have been searching for a player to bring leadership and championship experience to their team. Jonathan Toews could be the perfect fit for this role. Although there is a high chance he might be retiring, it would be nice to see him in a depth role on the Edmonton Oilers.

Toews is a skilled center with over 1,000 career NHL games under his belt. He has won three Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks and has been a key contributor to their success over the years. His leadership and winning mentality are highly sought after in the NHL, and I think the Edmonton Oilers would be lucky to have him.

In addition to his leadership qualities, Toews is a reliable presence on the ice. He excels in both offensive and defensive roles and is known for his ability to make plays happen. He is a strong skater with excellent vision and a knack for finding his teammates in scoring positions. His defensive abilities are equally impressive, as he is able to anticipate the opposition’s moves and disrupt their plays.

If the Oilers were to sign Toews, they would be getting a player who could help elevate their game to new heights. He would bring a winning mentality to the locker room and serve as a mentor. He would also provide a much-needed boost to the team’s depth center position, which is in need of

Overall, signing Jonathan Toews would be a major coup for the Edmonton Oilers. He would bring leadership, championship experience, and a high level of skill to the team. With him on board, the Oilers would be much closer to contending for a Stanley Cup.

James van Riemsdyk

The Edmonton Oilers have been on the lookout for a player who can bring a combination of skill, experience, and leadership to their team. One player who could fit the bill is James van Riemsdyk.

Van Riemsdyk is an experienced winger with over 700 career NHL games under his belt. He has played for several teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and has established himself as a reliable scorer and playmaker.

One of the main reasons why the Oilers should consider signing van Riemsdyk is his ability to produce on McDavid or Draisaitl’s wing. He is a skilled forward with a quick release and a nose for the net, which makes him a dangerous weapon on the rush. He has scored nearly 300 goals in his career, and his presence on the Edmonton Oilers top 6 could make for better 5v5 numbers.

In addition to his offensive skills, van Riemsdyk is also a responsible defensive player. He is not afraid to get involved in the physical aspects of the game, and he is willing to block shots and battle for pucks along the boards. On a terrible Flyers team last season he was only a -3. His two-way play would make him a valuable asset to the Oilers, who need to improve their defensive game if they want to contend for a Cup.

JVR is a proven leader who has served as an alternate captain for both the Flyers and the Maple Leafs. He is respected by his teammates and coaches alike, and he has a reputation for being a hard worker and a team player. His leadership qualities would be a valuable addition to the Oilers’ locker room, especially as they look to build a winning culture.

James van Riemsdyk would be an excellent addition to the Edmonton Oilers roster. He brings offensive skill, defensive responsibility, and leadership qualities that could help the team reach new heights. If the Oilers are serious about contending for a Stanely Cup, they should strongly consider signing van Riemsdyk.

Connor Brown

Connor Brown is a versatile forward who can play both wing and center positions, and he has established himself as a dependable two-way player during his time in the NHL.

One of the main reasons why the Oilers should pursue Brown is his defensive prowess. He is a responsible player who is willing to block shots, battle for pucks, and play physical in all areas of the ice. His commitment to defense would make him a valuable asset to the Oilers, who need to improve their overall defensive game this season.

In addition to his defensive skills, Brown is also a capable offensive player. He has scored 30 or more points in his last three seasons and has a knack for creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. He is a smart player who knows how to use his speed and agility to create space on the ice, and his ability to play both wing and center positions would give the Oilers added flexibility in their lineup.

Another reason why the Oilers should consider signing Brown is his work ethic and leadership qualities. He is a hard worker who is always looking to improve his game and leads by example on and off the ice. He has served as an alternate captain for the Ottawa Senators, and his experience as a leader would be a valuable addition to the Oilers’ locker room.

At 29 years old, he is in his prime years as an NHL player, and he has the potential to continue improving his game in the coming seasons. If the Oilers sign him to a long-term contract, they could have a valuable asset on their roster for years to come, if the price is right.

Connor Brown would be a smart signing for the Edmonton Oilers. He brings a combination of defensive responsibility, offensive skill, leadership qualities, and potential upside to help the team reach new heights. If the Oilers want to build a winning culture and contend for a Cup, they should strongly consider pursuing Brown in free agency.
