Oilers series odds vs. Golden Knights is a must bet
The Edmonton Oilers are poised for another deep run in the NHL Playoffs and now they face the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round.
Of all the first round playoff series, this is the one that I think presents the best value from a betting standpoint. The Oilers are the far superior team to the Golden Knights, and once we take a look at the series odds, I’ll explain why.
Oilers vs. Golden Knights series odds
Oilers will dominate Golden Knights in second round of NHL Playoffs
Despite being the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, the Vegas Golden Knights are one of the weaker teams left standing in the NHL Playoffs, and oddsmakers tend to agree. There’s a reason they were only small favorites against the Winnipeg Jets and now underdogs to the Oilers.
I’m a big fan of advanced analytics and I believe they tell the true story about how a team is performing. Let’s take a look at where the Golden Knights ranked this season in a few key metrics:
- 22nd in CORSI%
- 20th in FENWICK%
- 16th in expected goals%
- 12th in high-danger scoring chances
- 12th in shooting%
CORSI% and FENWICK% measures all types of shots for and against and the other three are largely self-explainable. Now, let’s look at where the Oilers rank in those same statistics:
- 7th in CORSI%
- 13th in FENWICK%
- 4th in expected goals%
- 3rd in high-danger scoring chances
- 1st in shooting%
Quite a big difference, isn’t it?
The Oilers have always lacked defensively since drafting Connor McDavid, but now they sport one of the better defenses in the National Hockey League so there’s no excuse why they can’t go on a Stanley Cup run.
I don’t know if I’d bet on them to win it all, but I think you’ll be hard pressed to find a better bet this round than for them to defeat the Golden Knights.
In fact, I think they can get it done in five games, which you can also bet on.
So, I’d recommend following along with me and let’s root for the Oilers to secure a berth in the Western Conference Final.
