After beating the Detroit Red Wings in Detroit just over a week ago 5-2 the Edmonton Oilers look to have a repeat performance, but this time at home.

Edmonton Oilers Need To Bounce Back

On Sunday the Edmonton Oilers played what I think was one of their worst games of the season. You could see that they were checked out of that game and ready to end the road trip. Now that the Edmonton Oilers are at home they need to bounce back.

On Sunday the Edmonton Oilers fell behind by 3 but were able to claw their way back to being only down by 2. After that It was all Montreal and the Oilers ended up losing 6-2. Edmonton came out slow and it cost them. They can’t do that tonight.

Another thing that happened on Sunday was Connor McDavid’s point streak ended. I would expect him to have a bounce-back game tonight. If you are a betting person, I think it is a safe bet that McDavid will get multiple points tonight.

Things Could Get Nasty Tonight

Everyone likes a hockey game that gets a little bit rough and dirty. When the Edmonton Oilers faced the Detroit Red Wings on the 7th things got exciting. The two teams combined for a total of 32 minutes of penalties.

I would expect that to carry over to tonight’s game. The fact the games are so close together means it is unlikely each team had time to forget the things that happened. The coaches may have talked to the players and told them to calm down to minimize the penalties.

This is probably the case more so for the Red Wings. The Edmonton Oilers have the league’s best powerplay so I wouldn’t think the Red Wings want to give them more opportunities. On the same note, the Edmonton Oilers need to be better on the powerplay than they have been as of late. Since the All-Star break the Oilers have gone 3 for 15 on the powerplay, which is about 10% worse than their season average.
