Chicago Blackhawks 34 Points(15-29-4)

As we just saw a couple of days ago the Blackhawks are a pretty lousy team. This shouldn’t come as a surprise from looking at their roster. The team traded away a lot of their players in the offseason. The Edmonton Oilers could use this to their advantage.

There Are Lots Of Options For The Edmonton Oilers

The Blackhawks are in rebuild mode, so they want to be as low in the standing as possible. In order to do that there is no one that is untouchable of the price is right. It depends on what Ken Holland wants to do, but there is no shortage of options.

Patrick Kane(9G-25A)

Patrick Kane is the highest-skilled forward on the Chicago Blackhawks. He would improve the skill in the Edmonton Oilers top 6 no doubt. The problem is the Edmonton Oilers don’t really have an issue with scoring goals. That being said too much of a good thing is a good thing and if you can improve your team in any way you have to try.

Jonathan Toews(14G-14A)

Jonathan Toews has been the captain of the Blackhawks since the 2008-2009 season. He would bring veteran leadership to the Edmonton Oilers. They had Duncan Keith last season for that veteran presence. So why not bring in his former teammate to do the same role?

As opposed to Kane, Toews would add a piece the Edmonton Oilers need. Toews would likely become the third-line centre on this team. He is a solid two-way player that I think may get better when he is back to having a chance to win the cup.

His ability in the faceoff dot is another thing the Edmonton Oilers could use as that is an area they struggle with.

Jake McCabe(2G-14A)

Jake McCabe is the most likely player from the Blackhawks that the Edmonton Oilers would trade for. It is no secret that the Edmonton Oilers want to improve their backend. Jake McCabe would do that.

On a team that has a goal differential of -58, the fact that McCabe is currently a +2 shows you that on a team that is bleeding goals he is limiting the goals against when he is on the ice. As I mentioned above the Edmonton Oilers have no problem scoring goals, but could use the help in getting scored on.

If the Oilers bring in McCabe all it would do is push out the 7th defenseman. It’s not a giant upgrade but could be enough to push the Oilers to another level.
