The Edmonton Oilers are in the midst of a slump this season as they find themselves behind four teams in the Pacific Division. With Stanley Cup aspirations this year after being able to reach the Western Conference Finals last season, this underwhelming start from the Oilers is a massive disappointment.

Yes, the Oilers lost power forward Evander Kane, when his arm got ran over by a Pat Maroon’s skate that will sideline him for at least 4 months. However, the Oilers cannot make Evander Kane’s injury as an excuse on why the team is struggling. This team still has one of the two best hockey players in the planet right now and they have to find a way to right the ship as soon as possible before everything sinks underneath them.

What’s Next For The Edmonton Oilers

The question now with this team is how will they resolve the loss of Evander Kane, and how can this team improve their team to be able to sustain winning. The Oilers cannot simply sit on their hands and just wait it out until Kane comes back or the team figures it out themselves. It might be a little too late by the time this team figures it out and they’ll be back to square one trying to figure things out on what went wrong.

In saying that, the team might address this Oilers line issue internally, or they might look for trades to bolster their lineup. Whether or not the Oilers try to trade this season, do not expect the team to trade for these 3 players.
