Ryan O’Reilly

Being a pending UFA and the St. Louis Blues having a struggling start to the season is why O’Reilly finds himself on this list. I don’t know if the Blues would look at trading their captain, but if there was every a season to it would be this one.

The Blues currently sit in tied for last place in the league with 8 points through 12 games. This may be the start of a rebuild for them. If it is O’Reilly could be a player that may be on the way out.

That could be good news for the Edmonton Oilers, just like Patrick Kane, O’Reilly has plenty of playoff experience, but he brings a different aspect that Patrick Kane. He is more gritty sandpaper style of player. More closely matched to Evander Kane’s style of play.

I think he would be a good fit in the Edmonton Oilers top 6 if he can pick up his play. So far in the 12 game he has played O’Reilly has score only 2 goals. That is it, no assists, just the 2 points in the 12 games.

As much as his post season experience is nice, he would need to add much more than 2 goals every 12 games if he came to the Edmonton Oilers. If the Oilers are looking to replace Evander Kane’s offensive numbers, maybe Ryan O’Reilly might not be the right guy. Unless he is only struggling cause the team is struggling.
