The Edmonton Oilers hit the road for the first time this season as they are in St. Louis to take on the Blues for the second time this season. In their first meeting the Edmonton Oilers lost 2-0 in a defense heavy game.

The Edmonton Oilers look to even the season series against the St. Louis Blues tonight. The last time these teams played the Oilers gave up an early powerplay goal against and were unable to tie it up throughout the rest of the game.

If I am going to be honest that last game was a bit on the boring side to watch in comparison to the other Oilers games. The St. Louis Blues are a strong defensive team and it showed on Saturday. In order for the Edmonton Oilers to win this game they need to play like they did after the first period on Monday.

On Monday against the Pittsburg Penguins, the Edmonton Oilers played their best hockey since the playoffs last season. They outshot the Penguins 38-16 in the last 40 minutes of play. If they can outwork the Blues like that they will win tonight.

The difference is the Blues are a better team defensively than the Penguins are. This isn’t just the defense itself, but the Blues forwards are also better in their own end. If the Oilers top two lines show up to play they can out offense the Blues defense.

This game tonight is an important game for the Edmonton Oilers. They need to be able to keep the momentum of the last game going. If they come out slow like they have in past games they will be in trouble. If they can keep the momentum going, I would expect this team to go on a big winning streak.
