It seems like forever but the Edmonton Oilers are finally playing a meaningful regular season game again. The Edmonton Oilers open their season tonight at home against the Vancouver Canucks.

148. Oilers -1.5. 0-0. 104. Wednesday, Oct 11. 0-0. 8 PM MST. Sportsnet

Last season the Edmonton Oilers won all 4 meetings against the Canucks. I would expect to see a similar result this season as on paper the Oilers have a superior team. The offensive power of the Edmonton Oilers will likely be to much for the Vancouver Canucks team to handle.

The one area the Vancouver Canucks are better than the Oilers is in net. Thatcher Demko is one of the NHL’s elite goaltenders. If the Canucks want to win this game Demko will need to be solid. I expect the Oilers should be able to get their share of chances against this team.

The Edmonton Oilers are favourites going into this game and I think the Edmonton Oilers will win this game easily. I believe the Oilers to come out firing this season as they try and get back into the hunt for the Cup.
