Jack Campbell era starts now

The Edmonton Oilers made a splash this offseason by signing free-agent goaltender Jack Campbell to a five-year, $25 million dollar contract. This signing brings excitement to Edmonton fans, as for the first time in a long time, the Oilers have a #1 netminder.

In previous seasons, the Oilers were contented to play their seasons with a 1A 1B goal-tending combos. For the most part, it was working, but we always wonder about every game whether or not which netminder will be playing depending on their play the previous game. The Campbell signing puts an end to that, as he will be tasked to carry the bulk of the games for the Oilers this season.

The question everyone is asking is if Jack Campbell is the answer to the forever questions in the net for the Oilers. Last season, although Campbell was able to post good numbers ( 31-9 with 2.64 GAA and a .914 SV %) his season was up and down with the Maple Leafs.  Let us hope Soup can manage to be consistent this season in net and be able to be the rock in goal we all envision him to be and help the Oilers inch closer to lifting the Stanley Cup.
