For the second night in a row the Edmonton Oilers rookies were on the ice taking on a Canadian opponent. A couple nights ago the Oilers beat the Winnipeg Jets, last night they we able to beat the Calgary Flames rookies by a score of 4-1.

1. 112. 4. 148. Final

This game was a much more tightly played game defensively by the Edmonton Oilers and the score showed that. The Edmonton Oilers only gave up one goal and in my opinion is was a junky goal.

The Edmonton Oilers Top Line

Just like against the Jets the best players for the Edmonton Oilers team were their best players. The line of Holloway-Bourgault-Hamblin appeared to be much better than any other line on the ice for both teams.

As I mentioned yesterday, this is exactly what we want to see from two of Edmontons best prospects in Bourgault and Holloway. I an expecting for Holloway to make the NHL team this year and wouldn’t be surprised if Bourgault is in the lineup full time next season.

Highlights

In the first goal in the game Noah Philp gets the puck in his own end, skated down the side of the ice makes a little inside outside move to get by one Flames player. After he gets by that player he makes it over the blue line and takes a quick wrist shot through the defender and it finds its way to the back of the net.

The Calgary Flames quickly tie the game up. After getting the puck back on the forecheck the puck eventually makes it back to Jack Beck. Beck walks in a takes a quick shot that is able to make its way through the traffic and finds its way to the back of the net.

The first line for the Oilers strike on this one. They move the puck around well and get to the loose pucks good on this goal. Then it was good work for Hamblin to find and open spot. The puck finds its way to him and he makes no mistake beating the goalie to make it 2-1.

Once again the Oilers first line takes advantage of having more skill. Hamblin feeds Holloway and Holloway takes the puck and it does a pretty little toe drag and fires the puck past the Flames goalie Dustin Wolf.

After that goal the Edmonton Oilers Holloway would add an empty netter, making it a 4-1 victory for the Edmonton Oilers over the Calgary Flames. The Edmonton Oilers rookies don’t play a game till tomorrow where they will take on the Vancouver Canuck’s rookies at 3:30PM.
