Evander Kane (43GP-22G-17A)

After joining the Edmonton Oilers halfway through the season last year Evander Kane quickly found chemistry on this team. Averaging just under a point a game in the regular season Kane was a welcome addition.

The 22 goals Kane scored in his 43 games put him on a pace to score 41 goals in 82 games. I have wrote about it before and I think this season the Edmonton Oilers have three 40 goal scorers. This is quite the rarity in today’s game.

Kane didn’t only provide goals during the regular season, he scored a bunch on the playoff run as well. Adding 13 goals and 4 assists in his 15 playoff games makes me even more excited to see him play a full 82 in the orange and blue.

He was averaging over a point a game and just under a goal a game in the playoffs. In the NHL playoffs offence is supposed to be hard to come by, but Kane seemed to be able to score at will. He scored two hat tricks on the post season run as well.

If he is able to stay healthy for the full 82 games I think we are going to have a chance to watch one of the most dominate lines in hockey. Kane-McDavid and whoever they put there will be a nightmare for whatever players line up opposite of them.

This is why in Evander Kane is my number one choice for an Edmonton Oilers breakout player. He may have broken out last year, but he only had half a season. With a full season I think he will put up better numbers than he did in the 43 regular season games last season.
