Evan Rodrigues (82GP-19G-14A)

Evan Rodrigues is a player who seemed to find his game last two seasons. Averaging just under half a point a game. He is in a very similar boat to Sonny Milano. He was playing in the top six on the Pittsburg Penguins. When you play with either Evgeni Malkin or Sidney Crosby you are going to get points.

If he does come to the Edmonton Oilers he likely will not be playing with McDavid or Draisaitl. He does shoot right so he may get a shot on the right side if there is issues signing Puljujarvi or Yamamoto.

He clearly has the ability to play with skilled players. This is something that the Edmonton Oilers can’t have too much of. If there is a player slumping while playing with the top two they need someone that can. So the more options they have in that role the better.

Once again Rodrigues would need to sign for somewhere around the $2 million mark. The Edmonton Oilers just don’t have that much cap space to spend on this type of player. This is even more prominent right now with the cap not increasing over the last few seasons.

Still Time For The Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers line-up right now is pretty solid and they do not need to add anything to the current roster to make the playoffs in my opinion. I just don’t know if this roster is good enough to win the Stanley Cup.

Winning the Stanley Cup is the main goal, so whether they add players now or at the deadline, I think players need to be added. The advantage of signing UFA’s is you don’t have to give up any assets to get them. You may get better players at the deadline, but at what cost.

There is still a couple months till the start of the season. Let’s see what moves Ken Holland has up his sleeve to see what he can do to improve this team.
