Sonny Milano (66GP-14G-20A)

Sonny Milano is an option for the Edmonton Oilers in the bottom six. The Edmonton Oilers don’t need any left wingers in the top six, but if there is any injuries Milano would be a decent player to fill in that role for a short term role.

On the Anaheim Ducks Milano was a top 6 forward, but the Ducks are a much weaker team than the Edmonton Oilers. As a better team the Edmonton Oilers will be able to Milano on the third line, here he will be up against weaker competition than he was when he was playing top 6.

This will likely mean his overall point totals will go down, but his points/60 will likely go up. One thing that the Edmonton Oilers of old used to do is try and get players to play above their skill. They no longer need to do that. A third line player will be playing third line. To me Milano is a third line player. The fact that he played on the top lines in Anaheim only goes to show that the Duck have a way to go before they are contenders.

If the Edmonton Oilers are able to sign Sonny Milano, I would think that they would sign him to a cap hit around $2.0 million. If it is anything more than that there is no way that the Oilers should sign him. He will help the Edmonton Oilers, but he will only help him for under the $2 million.
