It has been 12 days since the start of Free Agency. Teams have spent their money on the players they wanted to bring in. The Edmonton Oilers were no different, signing free agent goalies Jack Campbell, Calvin Picard, and forward Mattias Janmark. They were also able to re-sign their free agents Brett Kulak and Evander Kane.
After all the big moves in the first couple of day are finished, there are still a couple of decent players still looking for a team. Now they could either be waiting for team to offer them more money or they could just be waiting for a team to offer them anything. Either way they are still available.

The problem from a player’s point of view in waiting too long is teams don’t want to wait. If you hold out to long they will just find a replacement in that spot. This could leave them with no team at the start of the season. It rings truer with borderline NHL’ers and veterans.
When it come to the Edmonton Oilers in the past Ken Holland has handed out a couple of PTO’s and even a couple of cheap signing gambles. Some have paid off, but a majority did not.
This is why I think even though most of the big fish have been caught, there is still a few diamonds that the Edmonton Oilers could sign for a really good bargain contract. I have made a list of 3 players that I think the Edmonton Oilers should try and take a swing at bring in this offseason.
